2004
The Early Years
Mark's journey into driver dynamics began in 2004 at Griffith University, where he worked as a Biomechanics tutor volunteering in researching how specialised training courses directly improve driver safety and vehicle control. The general purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a specific driver-training program taught by Holden Performance Driving Centre (Norwell, Queensland) on driver skill and driving performance as revealed by vehicle motion and postural stability during a range of common driving manoeuvres; emergency braking, cornering, and evasive lane change and return.
2010
Turning Research Into Reality
Mark completed his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at the Performance Driving Centre, qualifying as a defensive driving instructor. For many years, he specialised exclusively in teaching everyday drivers how to manage the finer points of vehicle control such as weight transfer, emergency braking, and hazard avoidance.
2015-Now
From Supercars To Safer Suburbs
Mark's expertise in vehicle dynamics later led to employment from global automotive brands including Toyota, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren to instruct drivers at official vehicle launch events across Australia. He has also instructed high-octane driving experiences at the Norwell Motorplex (formerly V8 Superschool) and delivered specialised corporate driver training for mining companies, lifeguards, and local councils.
Today, alongside running Apex Driving Lessons, Mark also works as a trusted subcontractor for RACQ and Driver Safety Australia.
